David Gilmour is one of the masters of fuzz pedals. He used germanium fuzz, switched to silicon and finally, he switched to big muff. But let's compare fuzz tones with big muff to understand the difference between the tones. Here is an example of how to make a Big Muff work better in a live situation. I used a 70s Strat with a JB Jr. pickup in the bridge played through a 70s JMP 100 Watt Marshall (25 Watt speaker cab). I am using a 70s Big Muff with a late 90s TS9 Tube Screamer. The Cry Baby is a fairly new 535Q model.
