De Grootst Gemeenschappelijke Deler of GGD is het grootste getal waardoor je teller en noemer kan delen in een breuk zodat je meest vereenvoudigde vorm krijgt. Dit heb je dus nodig om snel je breuk te kunnen vereenvoudigen. Latere technieken gaan we wat intuïtiever vereenvoudigen, want de GGD berekenen kost erg veel tijd. De GGD bereken je door de teller en noemer eerst te ontbinden naar priemfactoren. Zodra je dat gedaan hebt neem je het maximum aantal priemfactoren per getal dat je hebt ontbonden.
