It’s time for an Audi RS showdown! We’ve got our hands on the all-new Audi RS3 Performance & Audi RS7 Performance, and they’re facing off against an Audi RS5 Competition Plus! So let’s see how the three compare. Starting with the RS3, it’s powered by a 2.5-litre turbocharged 5 cylinder that produces 407hp (7hp more than the standard RS3, no less!) and 500Nm of torque. It weighs in at 1,560kg, and it costs around £65,000. But be warned, UK viewers - this one isn’t being released in the UK! Alongside it we have the RS5 Competition Plus. It’s housing a 2.9-litre twin-turbo V6 under the bonnet which is good for 450hp and 600Nm of torque. As you’d expect, it’s heavier than the RS3, weighing in at 1,695kg, and it also costs more, coming in at around £85,000. Then finally we have the Audi RS7 Performance. It’s powered by a 4-litre twin-turbo V8, and this delivers 630hp and 850Nm. It’s the heaviest car here, at 2,065kg, and it’s also the most expensive, costing around £119,000. The question is, does BMW’s smallest M car have a chance against the likes of AMG, Audi & Porsche? Well, it’s time to find out! Starting with the Audi, it’s powered by Audi’s glorious 2.5-litre 5 cylinder turbo engine that can produce 400hp and 500Nm of torque. This power is sent to all four wheels via a 7-speed automatic gearbox. It weighs in at 1,570kg, and if you’re looking to pick one up it’ll cost you around £54,000. To its right we have the recently revised Mercedes-AMG A45 S. It’s packing a 2-litre 4-cylinder turbo under the bonnet that can put down 421hp and 500Nm. Power is sent to all four wheels via an 8-speed dual-clutch gearbox, and it tips the scales at 1,550kg. It’s a bit more expensive than the Audi, too, costing around £63,000. On the far side we have the Porsche 718 Boxster GTS. It’s the most expensive car here, coming in at £75,300! What’s more, it’s also the least powerful car here, with the 4-litre naturally-aspirated flat-six producing 400hp and 430Nm. This power is only sent to the rear wheels through a 7-speed dual-clutch gearbox, however, it’s also the lightest car here, coming in at just 1,435kg. Then finally we have the all-new BMW M2. It’s equipped with a 3-litre twin-turbo straight-six, and as a result, it’s the most powerful car here, putting down 460hp and 550Nm of torque! Just like the Porsche this power is sent to the rear wheels only via an 8-speed automatic gearbox, and a new one today will cost around 1,720kg. However, it’s by far the heaviest car here, tipping the scales at 1,720kg! So how will this one play out - will the weight difference prove decisive? Or will the M2’s extra power push it to victory? Cum sună asta? Audi cu 400 de cai, motor 2.5 benzină, model 2023, preț de bază 65.000 de euro? Până acum bine, o mașină nemțească corectă. Dar ce zici de "plastic ieftin", dotări scumpe rău de tot și unele lucruri aberante făcute cu intenție? Ca să nu uiți că puteai să îți iei o clasă mai scumpă. Ei bine, totul la mașina asta e o nebunie! Vorbesc bineinteles de Audi RS3 care e o masina cu performante superbe, aspect frumos insa pe alocuri are plastice ieftine, dotari care pur si simplu lipsesc, in mod intentionat, sa te faca sa iti cumperi Audi RS4, Audi RS5 sau Audi RS6, si nu in ultimul rand, unele dotari sunt pur si simplu absurde la pret si impartite in foarte multe categorii, dupa cum am prezentat in episodul de astazi. Masinile anilor 2020 nu mai sunt ca cele ale aniilor 2000, pe vremuri, daca aveai un Audi RS4 B5, nu iti trebuia scaune cu masaj, cu reglaj electric, cu memorii, cu ventilatie sau cu cine mai stie ce... Iti luai masina pentru motor, pentru performante. In ziua de astazi dotarile joaca un mare rol in vanzarea unei masini. Insa nemtii sunt oameni destepti si stiu sa vanda, tocmai de aia masinile din Germania sunt facute special cu intentia de a mai rupe un ban de pe tine. Pretul de baza e din start mare, ca bineinteles, e masina nemteasca, e Audi! Iar apoi se mai adauga unele dotari care desi teoretic ai putea trai bine fara ele, o sa iti fie greu sa iti configurezi masina fara... In concluzie? Audi RS3 isi merita toti banii daca stii exact ce cumperi. Daca vrei o berlina mica, sportiva rau de tot si cu care sa iti poti face treaba zilnic si prin oras sau la drumuri mai lungi. The 2023 Audi RS3 ($58,900 starting in the US) is now forbidden fruit for us here in Canada, since it is no longer sold within our borders. However an American RS3 can still come and visit, and share with us the melodic roar of the only new 5-cylinder engine on the market. A 5-cylinder turbo that makes 401 horsepower, 369 lb ft of torque, and has a blistering claimed 0-60 time of just 3.6 seconds. But does this new and improved RS3 still suffer from the same understeer that plagued earlier generations? Or does the new torque-splitting rear differential provide just what it needs to put the power down more confidently and have a little slide-happy fun in a corner? Mat’s got his hands on both of these performance pocket rockets and he’s going to run you through everything you need to know to find out which is best! (Ok, it’s the RS3 saloon rather than the hatchback, but it’s basically the same car…) So let’s have a look at the stats. Starting with the Audi, it’s packing a 2.5-litre 5-cylinder turbo petrol engine under the bonnet, that’s good for 400hp & 500Nm of torque. It’s equipped with all-wheel drive, and Audi claims it can hit 60mph in just 3.8 seconds. As for the AMG, it’s actually down a cylinder, with a 2-litre 4-cylinder engine housed up front. However, it’s worth noting that this is the most powerful 2-litre 4-cylinder engine in the world, so it can put down 421hp and 500Nm - so it’s more powerful than the Audi! It can also hit 60mph slightly quicker, at 3.7 seconds. In terms of styling, it’s fair to say the Audi is definitely a bit more understated than the AMG. Sure it comes with two huge oval exhaust pipes along with some big air intakes up front, but that’s nothing compared to the AMG’s huge wing and quad exhaust tips! In terms of price, they’re both relatively similar, with the Audi starting at £55,000, and the AMG coming in at £59,000. But which should you choose? There’s only one way to find out - stick with Mat for this all-new group test! It’s time for an incredible tuned hot hatch drag race!! We’ve got our hands on the BMW M240i, VW Golf R, Audi RS3 and AMG A45 S. They’re all about to go head-to-head over the quarter-mile, and they’ve all been tuned! This one’s going to be epic… So let’s check out the stats. The BMW is powered by a 3-litre straight-six turbo, which normally puts out 374hp and 500Nm of torque. However, the one we’ve got our hands on now puts out 460hp and 650Nm! Next up it’s the Golf R, which is the most powerful car here! Its 2-litre 4-cylinder turbo engine normally produces 374hp and 420Nm of torque, but it’s £7,000 worth of work done to it, and as a result, it now puts down 530hp and 630Nm!! Alongside the Golf, we have the RS3, with the power output from its 2.5-litre 5-cylinder turbo increased from 400hp and 500Nm to 503hp and 630Nm respectively. Then finally we have the AMG A45. It’s had the least work done on it here (only £1,000 worth), but it’s still received a pretty tasty output increase, with the 2-litre 4-cylinder turbo now putting down 503hp and 610Nm! The question is, can you pick a winner?! There’s only one way to find out for sure… LET’S RACE!
