The Argon One M.2 is a solid metal case for the Raspberry Pi 4 which offers some really excellent features, including configurable active cooling, 2x fullsize HDMI ports, smart power button / soft shutdown, easily accessible GPIO and perhaps most importantly, the ability to boot from an M.2 SSD. It does have a few minor issues that mean it might not be suitable for all purposes, and the M.2 setup can be fiddly if you don't have an M.2 USB adapter to plug into your PC. sorry this video.turned into a bit of a rant. as ever your mileage may vary but for me, in my environment, the Argon One M.2 case is almost unusable. I LOVE their original case. I LOVE the new full size HDMI. there my infatuation stops. The M.2 needs the PCIe variant. the NVME one I bought dont work - fair comment this was clearly stated by Argon One. Amazon didn't make it clear on their Samsung M2 description. I have decided to get an external case for the M2 NVMe and use it as external drive. The M.2 intental board on the new case just blocks my WiFi. Am using product in a hybrid.mode. New case, new daughter board for full sized HDMI and old bottom so I can access uSD card. this is nearly perfect for me. but annoying I need to buy 2 cases to get the one I want. if you are close to string wifi you might fare better. But I wouldn't count on it. And if u want the SSD part I would recommend buying from Pi Moroni who get Pi and will probably support u in your purchase rant over.

The TOFU by Oratek is the first board I've had in hand that has a built-in M.2 slot so I can finally use a native NVMe SSD directly on the Pi, something I've been hoping to do for years! Argon ONE M.2 is a Raspberry Pi 4 compatible case that is made with aluminum alloy and polished with a modern Space Grey finish for stunning aesthetics and functionality. It has a 30mm software-controllable fan and air vents for better cooling. Also, you can connect an SSD via the m.2 connector and therefore supports high-speed data transfers. This case has two full-sized HDMI ports and also has a built-in power button for safe shutdowns, reboots, and forced shutdowns. In this video, I will go over in detail the new Argon One M.2 Raspberry Pi 4 case which supports M.2 SSD(Key-B or Key-B&M). The case is made of aluminium and provides active and passive cooling. It also has an IR receiver which we can control Pi remotely. I don't own the IR remote, so can't demo that. This case is square and designed for Raspberry Pi 4B. The upper cover is equipped with a magnetic suction buckle for easy sliding removal, which is dust-proof and easy to use. Built-in cooling fan, heat conduction column, and the top and bottom of the case are designed with two rows of ventilation holes for more efficient heat dissipation. The precise hole design is adopted to ensure that each interface can fit the Raspberry Pi board well. So since my last video I had a issue with the wifi I couldn't figure out how to resolve it until now. I finally found on this site here: 🤍 What I was doing wrong and what needed to happen to get it running and have my wifi and other apps working correctly without any lag on the m.2 drive. So lets test out a western digital blue 500gb m.2, a Samsung evo 860 250gb and a dogfish technology 120gb m.2 Software for testing the drives can be install on the Raspberry Pi with the following code in terminal. sudo apt-get update sudo apt-get install gnome-disk-utility

My Argon ONE case initially was not working properly. The HDMI display was never being detected correctly. It's fixed now, fortunately! In this video I'll show what was wrong and how I fixed it. Tl;dw - It was a quality control issue. They should probably test these before shipping them.

We are using this case with a Raspberry Pi 4 8GiB Model and a 250GiB internal SSD and are booting up from the SSD. No SD card used. It is incredible. The Argon M2 case is the Raspberry Pi 4 case you have been looking for, not only is there an M2 drive reader concealed within but its really sleek and easy to use and stops your Raspberry Pi looking like an unfinished electronics project. IMPORTANT - before you put the raspberry Pi4 is the case make sure that its set up to USB boot - from the factory they will be set up to boot from SD. Instructions can be found here 🤍 NOTE that you only need to set up the Pi to boot from USB, once thats configured remove the SD and you can continue with the video. So here is the demonstration of WiFi signal attenuation with the newer Argon One M.2 case. You can see in earlier video I have both cases. I have phone, laptop etc in pretty much same location in the house - they receive sufficient signal directly from my Wireless router. The original Argon One case received sufficient signal. The M.2 case, if left unmated, also received sufficient signal. But as soon as I mate the top/bottom my primary WiFi is gone. I have two workarounds 1] attach to my wifi extender other side of the wall - but that isnt as fast as the primary Wifi. This is my current solution now I added a 512Gb SATA SSD M.2 to the case 2] use new body and IO Board but old Argon One base. And this received the primary wifi fine. So this is just a heads-up the new case severely attenuates WiFi. If you have strong Wifi, use Ethernet or are not connected to web then no problems. But if like a lot of folks you have lower WiFi in your apartment then likely this new case will block WifiSignal. I have not drilled holes in the case - some do this. Like I say I have a workaround. And to be 100% clear this is why the new design is disappointing - nothing to do with me purchasing a NVMe M.2 drive - there I am disappointed with myself for not checking the Amazon description enough. And putting that drive into SSK case didnt cure issue - it demands too much current for the Pi4 USB. I will try a powered hub later. see also 🤍
