Jeffery Broussard & The Creole Cowboys features the accordion mastery and soulful vocals of front man Jeffery Broussard, from the legendary band, Zydeco Force. The band delivers great, pack-the-floor renditions of Creole classics as well as their own brand of contemporary Zydeco. Whether he is playing a festival stage in front of thousands of dancers, a small theater of seated patrons, giving an interview, teaching a lesson or playing at a trailride, his warmth, love of the music, and talent shine. Houston’s zydeco dance scene brings joy and a driving rhythm to partner dancing, and in this episode, we explore the dance’s deep roots in Creole culture and music. What was called La-la in Southeastern Louisiana Creole communities became known as zydeco in Houston with the influence of R & B and the ‘King of Zydeco’, Clifton Chenier. Houston is where zydeco is thriving, evolving and reaching a broader audience, around trail-riding clubs who dance together after their rides to the accordion-driven sounds of zydeco bands with a touch of hip-hop. As infectious as zydeco is, it’s grown popular worldwide, but what hasn't changed is how zydeco brings community together in Houston. EDITOR'S NOTE: This episode was filmed in February of 2020, before the coronavirus pandemic swept through cities in the United States. Houston is currently experiencing a surge in COVID-19 cases and we hope the community remains safe at home until it’s time to dance together again. ⬇Download full content description here: 🤍 ⬇Download transcript here: 🤍 NEW SEASON 3 EPISODES EVERY OTHER TUESDAY! 🔔Hit that SUBSCRIBE button! 🔔 🤍 Our history. A unique city in the United States, New Orleans revolves around music and dance. The episode of "United Nations of Dance" features Darold Alexander, who makes his living dancing swing and lindy hop in different traditional clubs in the city. We also meet Harold Guillory, one of the leading Zydeco experts in the state of Louisiana, and delve deep into the scene of Bounce, a kind of local hip hop where "twerking" became popular before getting into the mainstream. Dancer Moe Joe and others analyze the pop phenomenon that put New Orleans back on the map in the post-Katrina period. The documentary series "United Nations of Dance" takes viewers on a journey into the world's traditional dances. Dance has always united people; it is perhaps the most primitive form of communication that transcends languages, social class, or religion. Dancing is also one of the highest expressions of the culture and traditions of different nations.
