Struggling to break into the US market in the 1960s, Toyota knew they needed a car that would make people sit up and take notice. And boy did this collaboration with Yamaha do just that! The Toyota 2000GT, arguably Japan's first supercar, was good enough to rival the top European manufacturers, and even joined the pantheon of icons as a Bond Car in "You Only Live Twice". Thank you for everyone's patience awaiting this next episode! It's been a very busy couple of months away from the channel and a longer break than intended, but we're back and looking forward to bringing you lots of exciting content in 2021! In this episode, Iain brings us up to speed with the restoration of the 350GT, the fifth ever production Lamborghini, following work to repair the body. Iain shares some of the history of the original Lamborghini V12 designed by Giotto Bizzarrini and it's importance in the history of the company, it's use spanning four decades, albeit with some changes, right through to production of the Murcielago in the early Noughties. And as luck would have it, Iain happens to have one of those in the workshop as well, so he shares some insight into this most modern iteration of the V12, before taking it to stretch it's legs. Iain's back with another workshop catchup with some longterm jobs nearing their conclusion and other new arrivals starting the next chapter of their story. First up it's the fibreglass Ferrari 308 GTB which long-term viewers will remember was likely no more than one sharp impact away from falling apart with a rather rotten chassis! Thankfully Iain and his team have worked their magic to restore it to it's former glory, particularly James with his metal fabrication and Ryan with his paint application. Next it's back to where the channel started and an update on the yellow Lamborghini Miura S that featured way back in Episode 1. That being the barn-find discovery in the Black Forest that sold at auction in November 2019 for £1.25 Million. With restoration of the body nearing completion, Iain delves into some more detail of some special work that has been undertaken on this car's engine. After a quick glance at the Lime Green Miura SV, Iain stops by a Ferrari V12 engine rebuild, before visiting Craig's bench to delight in the incredible interior work he has undertaken on the two Miura restorations. It's then time for the new arrivals, starting with an iconic Ferrari F40 that has just arrived from Europe. Iain explains why this particular example is a perfect candidate for recommissioning. To round out the episode, we have the 1960 Bentley S2, this particular example in need of a full restoration. After a brief overview, Iain pops her up on the lift to delve into some more detail about the rather complicated braking system.
