St Paul's Cathedral, London, is an Anglican cathedral, the seat of the Bishop of London and the mother church of the Diocese of London. It sits on Ludgate Hill at the highest point of the City of London and is a Grade I listed building. Its dedication to Paul the Apostle dates back to the original church on this site, founded in AD 604. The present cathedral, dating from the late 17th century, was designed in the English Baroque style by Sir Christopher Wren. Its construction, completed in Wren's lifetime, was part of a major rebuilding programme in the City after the Great Fire of London. On 2nd December 1697, only 32 years and 3 months after the Great Fire destroyed 'Old St Paul's', the new cathedral was consecrated for use. The Right Reverend Henry Compton, Bishop of London, preached the sermon. It was based on the text of Psalm 122, "I was glad when they said unto me: Let us go into the house of the Lord." The first regular service was held on the following Sunday.
One Inaugural tradition had its start more than 200 years ago in the city that was our young republic's first capital. St. Paul's Chapel, in Lower Manhattan, was where George Washington prayed while assuming office as our first president. Mo Rocca visits the church that has been a witness to history.

St Pauls Church DJI Mini 3 pro [4k] #norden #rochdale St Paul’s Church is in the village of Norden in the outskirts of Rochdale. The church is over 150 years old. The ethos of the Church is to build on and respect the traditions of the past while looking to the future. The main footpath leading in to the church grounds was a traditional cobbled path. Due to the path being very uneven it was proving problematic for wheelchair users to use it. Elderly parishioners were often concerned about using the path due to the uneven blocks being a trip hazard. The other alternative route into the church grounds was via a steep flight of stairs so this was not a viable option for those with reduced mobility. The Church committee decided work needed to be carried out to improve access. The church has benefited from considerable building work to the roof and tower, funded through grants from English Heritage, Viridor and the Duchy of Lancaster, local businesses and local fundraising. A digital organ was purchased and installed in 2008. The church celebrated its 150th anniversary in 2011 and held a very successful Flower Festival to commemorate the occasion. The final phase of roof and tower repairs are currently under way, due for completion November 2019. Music from #Uppbeat (free for Creators!): 🤍

The beautiful Athlone is the birthplace of the world famous tenor John 'Count' McCormack in 1884. The earliest reference to King's Sutton is in the story of Saint Rumbold, who was born here in 662. The building has Norman elements and was completed in the 14th Century. Its finest feature is the tower and spire, rising to 198 feet. It is one of the finest spires in the country. It is normally open during daylight hours. The Church has been in the Anglo-Catholic tradition since the late 19th Century. The PCC has requested alternative Episcopal oversight, and the parish is in the care of the Bishop of Richborough. All are welcome whatever their views on these matters. The Parochial Church Council (PCC) has produced a statement of our purpose, values, and growth plan which can be viewed here.
