Paid PRO version will not add more functions/sensors than you get in free trial period. After 10 connections PRO free trial will end and many options will be limited. Better find your vehicle model (or most similar engine/car). Try several profiles, each has 50-400 parameters, listed in Settings/Sensors. App has profiles for most car brands (VW, AUDI, TOYOTA, RENAULT, HYUNDAI, KIA, SKODA, OPEL, FORD, VOLVO, etc). You can create/import custom PIDs and relational pids, like in Torque PRO. Many diesel profiles show DPF soot, but not all profiles - check before buying PRO. Car Scanner cannot force service DPF regeneration (except some VW and Renault engines) Which ELM327 adapter? for Android - any Bluetooth 1, 2.0, 3.0, 4.0 BLE, or WiFI for iPhone iOS - only use Bluetooth 4.0 LE or WiFi I use iCar Vgate adapter - goes to sleep if unused for 30 minutes, can be left in diagnostic port Wi-Fi ELM327 adapters should be avoided: - selecting Wi-Fi will stop 4G/LTE on smartphone - every time you need to manually find Elm327 WiFi ELM327 Bluetooth - you can connect smartphone-ELM327 (for Car Scanner) and smartphone-car for calls/music streaming (music gets lower bitrate) - Bluetooth doesn't interrupt mobile data LTE/4G on phone HOW TO connect ELM327 ? Android - pair phone with elm327 adapter BEFORE launching Car Scanner. Then in Settings/Adapter ELM327 select that elm327 (diagnostic port icon). Do NOT choose your car's Bluetooth - don't select My VW, My Toyota, My Opel ! iOS - pair phone with elm327 adapter DIRECTLY in Car Scanner. Cheapest blue adapters are not reliable, may cause errors: 🤍 Don't leave ELM327 in diagnostic port - it keeps modules awake and drains 12V battery. Or buy adapter with auto off (Vgate etc) DASHBOARD Sensors can be shown as number, gauge, chart. Change colors, layout, add pages, set photo as background. Live data is displayed as charts, numbers, gauges - customizable color and size (no need for external skins as in Torque). You should connect to your car at least 1 time - to gather available sensors - before using DEMO mode. Dashboard setup: - Vehicle options/Dashboard (theme, background picture, general settings) - double click on any item on the Dashboard - on Dashboard screen click Settings icon in upper right corner to edit whole page Parameters displayed on Dashboard are archived - each trip separately - and can be reviewed later in Settings/Data recording (or exported as .csv or .brz file to Car Scanner on other phone). - for more vehicles always use menu "My cars" - most electric vehicle profiles (EV) include pre-loaded Dashboard (over 10 pages) - when switching to another EV profile in Settings/Connection profile), dashboard from new EV profile is not automatically loaded. Dashboard created in other profile will show empty fields after import, but at least you get custom setup, colors and all other graphical elements. So if you restore Dashboard in another car profile, you can easily adapt these empty fields to your car - manually choose sensors from your car profile. It takes only a few minutes. Custom dashboard in Car Scanner is like custom skins in Torque PRO How to import Dashboard: Select identical car profile (Settings - Connection profile) before restoring .json file as new dashboard (Settings - Dashboard - restore Dashboard). Attention: you will see short alerts related to ABS, SRS, airbags. This is normal, no need to worry. Car Scanner shows hidden diagnostic information about many control modules in the car, accessible via CAN-bus. In VW ID.4 shows: - unit part no. - factory firmware version - software update version - manufacturer part number - manufacturer code - some other diagnostic parameters Go to menu Settings / ECU Identifiers This menu is visible ONLY when app is connected to the car via ELM327.
